Gunslynger / Speed Silhouette - Info

Gunslynger / Speed Silhouette / Speed Silo - it's all the same game of a different name.

Speed Silo is held on the same day as Long Range Field Target (LRFT) events, and is shot in the afternoon following the completion and clean up of LRFT.

Check our Field Target page for all air gun field target related event schedules, including Gunslynger / Speed Silo events.

Speed Silo will be shot on our Competition Rifle Range.

Speed Silo Event Format

This event starts after the Long Range Field Target course is cleaned up.  We expect to start shooting around noon or slightly after.

If you are shooting Long Range Field Target, the cost to participate in Speed Silo is included in the LRFT cost.  If you only want to shoot Speed Silo, the cost will be $5 for the day.  You are able to shoot as many times as you want until the end of the event.

The event will run as long as there is interest to continue shooting that day, or until about 3pm.  If we get a late start, we may run later.

What is Speed Silhouette?

In Speed Silhouette standard 1/10 silhouette animals are placed at set distances, and the goal is to knock down all the animals as fast as possible, or at least faster than the person you are shooting against.

This is shot head-to-head, and at larger events the winner is crowned after a tournament bracket is complete.

At our events, we will shoot head-to-head (or as a single) for fun, and we are not playing for anything more than bragging rights.  Generally this will be an ad-hoc head-to-head game, you will just challenge whomever you care to and shoot against them and try your best to improve your Speed Silo skills.

Notable items:

  • Guns must be .22 caliber or smaller.
  • Targets are placed at 10, 25, 40, and 55 yards.  There are 20 targets that need to be knocked down.
  • Eye protection is required.
  • We generally follow the Pyramid Air Cup Gunslynger rules.
  • Must use Pellets – NO BBs, Slugs or Solid Ammo

Rule exceptions can be made to encourage participation:

  • You can shoot PCP as a single shot (no mag), but you will be on a 6 minute time limit.
  • You do not need to shoot head-to-head, but try to if you can find a willing opponent.
  • We will allow 25 caliber guns if they are under 45 fpe.  We will test the gun before you can participate with a 25 caliber gun.

We use RX Targets, the same targets in use at the Pyramid Air Cup.
